Right after I wrote my first review, I started having issues with screen black-outs after coming out of sleep mode. The screen would intermittently black out for a few seconds and would continue to do so until I rebooted. I installed the latest drivers and the problem continued. I contacted XFX support and got a reply a couple of hours later.
When it was all said and done the black-outs were gone and all is well. Quick response and great service! It has MORE then met my expectations. Quality Hardware. Thank you XFX! Using Catalyst The card is plenty fast, plays everything with plenty of eye candy just fine x Factory overclock is great for those of us that don't like to mess with overclocking; if you want to overclock yourself you could probably save a few bucks and get the non-black edition dual fan version of the I've been wanting to upgrade to a since December and am very glad I waited for XFX to release a custom cooler instead of getting the reference version.
If you want a near-silent card, get this. This card is obviously faster but the biggest improvement is the reduced noise from the dual fan cooler over the single fan blower on the which is essentially the same as the reference cooler. Although I don't have the reference to compare to I have to believe this dual fan version is significantly quieter. I don't have a dB meter to test this card or my setup, but I believe I have a relatively quiet system and this card adds zero noise to it.
Pros: Rebate will come in as long as you follow every single thing requested and it will take a long freaking time to be processed but hey, 20 dollars is 20 dollars. No VGA, but that's okay with me, perhaps a con to others. Pros: Originally, I was a bit peeved that all the promotional Dirt3 codes were expired even thought XFX was still advertising them on the website.
However, they eventually did provide a code. The card works. It's the exact same dimensions as the HD that I'm replacing. Pros: I don't even hear it. I think I hear case fans over my card. Frames seem fine well above fine. Settings maxed on at least these games. Any games I had just to see performance and they run lovely. Cons: Can't really say anything. Just hope it doesn't give me any problems. Overall Review: Temps seem to be around 45C not running games.
Around 69C for games with no overclocking. I don't know what other effects it had, but probably best to leave it unchecked. Jumping from a P4 2. Dunno the reason, but after seeing forum responses and from my own experience, don't use the CCC to set any gaming options; FPS took a dive and overall gaming experience, at least in TF2, had odd handling for movement, and my guess is other games would suffer.
